Character Name: Chase McQueen
Chase is a rather dashing fellow. With wide shoulders, masculine hands, narrow hips and quite muscular thighs, Chase’s body is in good proportion. Standing at around five foot eleven, Chase is toned and cuts a trim, slightly stocky figure. His athletic physique is mostly down to the amateur quidditch he enjoys playing so much. Yet he would never audition for the team, as it would no doubt wound his pride. With Chase, his quidditch playing is fifty parts enthusiasm and one part skill.
His complexion is a natural tawny colour, bolstered by his habitual quidditch playing and his time spent working outside on the farm (much to his discontent). Chase’s hair is a natural dirty blond colour and is quite thick with some streaks of brown running through it. When he can be bothered to get it cut, he gets it cut quite short. however, most of the time it is a layered unruly mop atop his head long enough sometimes to reach into his eyes at the front and just brush his collar at the back with that just-got-out of-bed-and-couldn’t-be-bothered-to-put-a-comb-through-it look which he likes so much.
Chase was lucky enough to inherit his mother’s good bone structure, with high cheekbones and sharp angular features with a strong jaw. His eyebrows are quite strong, winged and dark brown in colour under which are his close set eyes which are a deep, enthralling dark blue. Chase has quite a slender, small nose which is in proportion with his long face and a generous, agile mouth that is often upturned in an alluring smile. Chase’s face is usually very expressive, though whther the emotions displayed are true or not remains to be seen he has a small mole just to the left of his top lip and has numerous such freckles on the rest of his body. Chase carries with him an air of supreme confidence and sunny blitheness, as a slytherin this leads most of his housemates to believe he is an idiot and easily manipulable, though in reality it is quite the reverse.
With his handsome face, suave nature and natural nonchalant air, one might be forgiven for thinking that Chase’s personality matches his appearance in that he is a sunny, amiable chap. However, what lurks beneath his happy go lucky façade is altogether much more sinister, leaving a lot to be desired. First and foremost, Chase is highly ambitious and determined to succeed. Immensely stubborn, he will not be satisfied or be distracted until he gets what he wants. He will stop at nothing to achieve his aims, even if it involves what he would normally consider beneath him or unsavoury; succeeding is everything. In addition to being ambitious, Chase is also extraordinarily avaricious. He’s never really satisfied even when he’s attained his goals. For Chase, everything must always be bigger, better and just more. He will always out grows things, moving on rapidly and striving further to reach his ever-changing ideals.
Chase is a very vain and proud little boy. Being the apple of his fathers eye and heir to a substantial fortune has gone to his head somewhat, leading to overbearing pride in himself. He is not above preening and is overtly narcissistic, often irritating people if they have to spend a long amount of time with him. Being highly arrogant and egotistical has often led him to underestimate people. He often sees others as beneath him whilst seeing himself as one of the elite, often shaming other people to make himself seem superior. He’s also too judgemental and can wrongly judge someone as inferior, leading to some sticky situations. Being proud has lead him to believe that he is nigh unconquerable and has lead to him being very bold and audacious, often taking risks to seek thrills.
Chase is quite a cold person in that he tends never to get emotionally involved with situations or people, though he often appears to. He finds it more practical to be emotionally detached as it means he is able to view situations clearly without any emotion impairing his judgement. Chase is very efficient in compartmentalising his thoughts and emotions. Without emotions skewing his judgement he can make decisions best suited to him in the long run, not for what he –or anyone else for that matter- is feeling at that moment in time. In a way, Chase is almost scared of his emotions getting the better of him. Despite this, Chase has an immensely short fuse and is quick to anger, though unlike others, he will not have a go at the time, he will bide his time until an opportune moment presents itself in which he can best get his revenge. Though he surrounds himself with people, Chase doesn’t anyone that he would truly consider a friend, he is more inclined to go it alone as he deeply mistrusts other people as a given. Though to those select one or two (including his beloved elder sister) who have caught his attention and impressed him, he is quite loyal…to an extent (as of course, in Chase’s mind everyone is expendable).
Chase is a good reader of people and readily uses this to his advantage. Like his cousin, Eudoxia, he is a very good manipulator. He will readily adopt the tone of voice, disposition and mood -depending on how the other person is acting- which will allow him to most easily manipulate the person in question. A side of Chase that a lot of his so-called friends would see is Chase as a ladies man (but what some would call a predator). For him it’s all in the thrill of the chase (no pun intended). He enjoys the power he has over woman, however, usually when he finally attains the girl, he grows incredibly cold towards her; they no longer a mystery to be unravelled to him; they are usually disappointingly run of the mill. it is then that Chase often grows bored with them and does the only thing left which will bring him some kind of satisfaction; he ‘breaks’ them, as he likes to call it; at the height of their attraction towards him, he abandons them leaving them with nothing more than a calculatingly spiteful remark.
Though he is of quite a high intelligence, with regards to his academics Chase simply couldn’t care less. As he stands to inherit a famous, thriving business, he sees no point in education or studies; as he sees it, how is knowing about things like Goblin Wars for example, remotely useful or translatable to everyday life? As a result he simply seems to coast through school, doing the barest minimum of work he can get away with whilst contemplating bigger and better things. A facet of Chase’s personality that most do not see is his ruthless, sadistic and power-hungry side. Chase yearns for power and the adoration or fear it brings; he is captivated by it. He also enjoys destroying people, to the point of sadism, but he never tells people of this, in truth it scares even him.
Charles Evander McQueen was born on the 2nd October to
Chase grew up on Windsworth Farm, a fifty acre Winged Horse stud farm just near Glenn Coe,
The whole family dynamic changed with the addition of Chase. For Stephen, the birth of a son meant he finally felt as though his family had produced something constructive and, up until Chase had been born, he’d been simply trapped there by responsibility and obligation. For
Chase’s childhood was relatively uneventful and he began to show signs of magic around the age of seven. He led a spoilt idyllic life where he was doted upon by everyone. Despite this and the fact that Hogwarts came as a shock when he was expected to work, Chase was glad of the chance for independence. Since the death of his uncle, Chase’s father, Stephen, had treated Chase more like a younger brother than a son, and it was a mould he was required to fit in order to support his father. This is perhaps why Chase hates going home hand despises being called Charles. Since attending Hogwarts, he has been expected to begin to learn how to run the farm and the intricate workings of it, despising most animals in general, he made a pact with his sister in that she would take care of that side if he took care of the business side. Chase achieved reasonable OWLs and is currently ‘studying’ for his NEWTs. During the battle at Hogwarts, Chase did not participate, he preferred to let the battle run it’s course and see who came out as the victor, before he chose sides.
Pet: Chase never really has been fond of animals, he’s always been better with people. Though to save complications, he has a beautiful, rather ill-mannered barn-owl called Janus.
Wand: made from birch it is 9½ inches long and very rigid containing a single heart-string from a Hebridean Black. It is a good wand for transfiguration.
